This is a really interesting post, and something that I've been thinking about a lot lately. I had a parasite that caused me to have leaky gut, dysbiosis, etc. My functional medicine doctor prescribed a ton of supplements, and I'm just wondering if this is the best thing.

I hear you and completely agree. It's a key reason why I try to find either a powder or liquid formulation for any supplementation I take. Not always possible but always worth the look!

Been thinking the same - and also want to have a better way to compare (objectively) supplements as feel marketing hype > scientific backing, and then on top the problem with the microbiome you describe.

We are planning to launch a platform in the fall called “healthacy” - would be good to connect separately on some of these topics if you are interested in speaking

I had steadily been adding supplements to my regime as I read your articles, based on what my DNA results were. I had improvements but there came a tipping point at which my gut yet again began to keep me at home. I knew it was the supplements, most of which were in cellulose based capsules. I tried removing one after the other with no improvement.

I finally figured out it was the cellulose and ended up ordering gummies. Everything settled down gut wise but I am not thrilled with the gummies as I don't think they are the same quality and the sugar.

I have ordered the bovine gelatin capsules and plan to put the giant bucket of higher quality supplements into them and use them up, then will order bulk supplements and do them myself. I have been just adding a couple of my capsules into my almond milk cocoa in the morning or into my oatmeal and that worked just fine, and my magnesium I just add to water. There's no way to choke down Berberine though, so gelatin capsules it is.
